I saw this post among the slew of comments on this Planned Parenthood post regarding the decision on the after 20-week abortions ban in Arizona.
It was nice to see a conservative man standing up to the anti-choice bullies on the page.
This is what happens when a conservative meets this little thing I like to call “reality.”
Though I was skeptical from the first couple of sentences, it ends up pretty awesome and insightful.

It shouldn’t take someone he cares about going through something that awful to suddenly make him wake the fuck up and see women as people.
Same goes for the woman who was pro-life until SHE had to watch her baby die a terrible death. Cause up until that point, she was totally fucking for OTHER women going through it.
I hate this sort of republican logic, that something is only relevant until it directly affects them. Like all of these republicans who suddenly change their position on gay marriage because their kid comes out of the closet. Or John McCain being against torture because HE was tortured.
It should not take you personally experiencing something to have some goddamn empathy.
Yeah but being born in to that kind of family/logic/political ideology means that you are often unable to change your thinking until you do experience those things. I’ve met democrats who are just as closeminded and ignorant (supporting drone bombing because Obama’s doing it, not Bush)…. idk. In a perfect world, no one would hold on to power and oppression, but we live here, and I am happy whenever people change for the better.

people ask me a lot about drawing poc, more specifically “how” to do it. my kneejerk reaction is to get frustrated by it, because the answer…
There’s also the fear that we are going to draw them in an unintentionally racist or stereotypical manner. A lot of us are trying hard to be politically correct and or aware, but it can feel like anything a white person does is attacked as racism. This is both because there IS alot of internationalized racism in our society that we don’t have a place to discuss or question without being attacked for our views, and because tentions run high and sometimes people over react to someone making a mistake. Also because many people are just racist. So thank you for this tutorial, its helpful for us Ignorant white people who are trying to break down the barriers, artistic or otherwise, that society has put up.
